How to Pray

Prayer is a one on one communication with a supernatural being, whose power, grace, mercy and love leads to our sustenance on earth.  Prayer is the expression of our faith in God that all we need will be realized. Being such a divine interaction with the most high, it therefore should be done reverently and in a very organized way. Our need for prayer must first be clearly established before presenting them to God. After such establishment, we should be systematic in the faithful presentation our needs and thanksgiving to God. There may not be a standard criterion of offering a prayer to God, but there are some components of a prayer that must be included in our attempt to pour our hearts to God as a faithful friend. As we begin our prayer presentation, we should first acknowledge that God is the creator   or that He is the supreme God. Secondly, we should thank the Lord for the numberless blessings we have already received. Being creatures with a sinful nature, we should repent our sins, lest they bar our prayers from being answered.  After showing our realization that we are sinners and we need forgiveness from God, we now have a clear channel through which we can present our prayers. At the end of the prayer, we should also acknowledge that it is through Jesus Christ that our prayers reach the throne of God. Finally, we conclude with the word AMEN. This shows our faith that our prayers have been answered.
